Gary Shoats Enjoyed The Time He Spent In Bega Studying Marine Life

Gary Shoats spent most of his summers with his grandparents as a child. On all his trips his grandfather would take him fishing and swimming to the lake a few miles from their town. This fondness for fishing made his interest grew in the marine life. Being a bright student from childhood he pursued his college and masters in the field of biological study of the marine life. After completion he moved to Bega Fiji to continue his study and research on the marine life. Bega is also known as the world's soft coral capital a places that is full of colorful corals, sponges, clown fish and various species of shark.

Gary loves the Sea of Cortez that is also referred as the world's aquarium. This place has thousands of species of marine life, a place where he enjoys working a lot. The place is filed with several species of whales who visit the shallow seas often. His favorite spinner dolphins and the hammerhead sharks are found in abundance here. He is working on the effects that the climatic conditions and changes in the atmosphere have on the underwater species.

Gary Shoats talks about the frequent oil spills in the oceans endanger life of thousands of sea creatures. The increasing human population and the expansion of habitat is depleting the natural resources have also caused the extinction of some rare species. These things altogether are disrupting the environment that is affecting all species. During his study on coral reefs he found how they are being affecting by global warming are also on the verge of extinction and if action is not taken soon they shall become extinct. He also supports and contributes to various organizations that are working towards the survival of these underwater creatures.

Apart from the time he spends on his research he also enjoys diving and surfing and while he is on his work trips in these lovely waters he tries to take out time for these as well. Owing to his job Gary does not get much time to spend with his family but he makes sure that he spends his summers at his grandparents' home. He along with his family together goes for fishing on the lake that has become a tradition and is followed each year.
